The project focuses on 3 key elements to improve the situation of school-aged children:
1) Increasing Francophone music awareness:
We collaborated with a Francophone music expert to create six workshops and coaching sessions related to French music and discovering new artists. The 6 sessions changed the children’s perception of French music. The goal of this component was to increase the frequency under which French music would be heard and discovered, as well as turning it up a notch in Samuel-de-Champlain School with 20 weekly radio shows about discovering/sharing French music, created by students and aired each Friday in the school (for students) and on the community radio CHQC (for the community).
2) Increasing the quality/impact of the content offered to students :
We offered four workshops with a specialist in videography/lighting/ambiance offering demos and coaching sessions. The workshops encouraged passionate young leaders to gain confidence in airing French music (train the trainer) to create multimedia WOW moments, including lighting and video projection. The goal of this component was to give mentorship for organizing dances and special activities like back-to-school events.
3) Increasing the number of activities offering positive, quality experiences related to Francophone music/culture:
Thanks to the partnership between ARCf’s Cultural Affairs and various student groups of Samuel-de-Champlain school, the project offered 3 activities highlighting French music, and participating students had the opportunity to gain positive experiences of professional shows offered by artists on stage.
