GACEF

The Action Group for the Commission on Francophone Schools (GACEF) is co-chaired by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and the Fédération des conseils d’éducation du Nouveau-Brunswick (FCÉNB). The GACEF is an action group, not an advocacy group, formed of community and education representatives.

The GACEF’s missions:
- Managing the school-community partnership fund.
- Mobilizing and involving partner organizations in the implementation of the Linguistic and Cultural Development Policy.
- Implementing the societal project Action Group for the Commission on Francophone Schools (GACEF) to involve the community in carrying out the Policy.

2008: Education Minister Kelly Lamrock creates the Commission on Francophone Schools named Bâtissons ensemble la meilleure école pour nos enfants. This Commission was lead by Gino LeBlanc, then an associate researcher for the Canadian Institute for Research on Public Policy and Public Administration at the Université de Moncton, and was charged with identifying the major challenges and issues facing New Brunswick’s French education system and with establishing potential solutions to meet these challenges.

2009: The Action Group for the Commission on Francophone Schools (GACEF), comprised of partners from various sectors, is created to ensure the implementation of the Commission’s recommendations as well as to determine how the Policy should be implemented.
